The Tarutaru are a race of skilled magic users who call Windurst their home. Although the Tarutaru physically resemble children, their size does not reflect their age. Masters of the magical arts, the Tarutaru have honed their abilities through dutiful study of the world around them.
Their dedication and hard work fueled the rapid reconstruction of Windurst after its destruction in the Crystal War. The Tarutaru enjoy a friendly relationship with the Mithra, who call Windurst their home as well.Tarutaru lack the physical strength and durability of their fellow enlightened races as a result of their racial prejudice towards magical study. This study is reflected in game stats with the highest Magic Points and Intelligence. They also have high charisma probably owing to their seeking of peace with all races and harmony with nature.
Racial Origins
According to legend they were cursed with cowardice by Promathia but this belies their war-like past.
The Tarutaru originated from the Fauregandi Region from where they eventually began to migrate. Eventually they found the Sarutabaruta Region which they now call home. They were the first to create a national civilization and are unique in their use of magic for even the most mundane uses.
Culture
Being small in size seems to have made the Tarutaru more determined to succeed in their endaevors and focus on mental abilities. Once they learned magic they found it very compatible with their mental focus. Though physically not as strong the other races they were able to dominate the region through tactics and knowledge.
Though once warlike they now are peace seekers. Dedicated to pacifism they even have extended friendly relations with the Yagudo. So dedicated to keeping peace they bring regular offering of peace to these Beastmen as part of their agreement. This behavior is often viewed of as evidence of cowardice by the other races.
Religion and Philosophy
The Taru have their own unique form of religion. While they do worship Altana, they do so in a unique way, they pay homage by respecting the prophecies and guidance of the Star Sybil. The Star Sybil, both heir national and spiritual leader, is beleived to be an incarnation of Altana.
The Tarutaru philosophy is shown to prize both knowledge, obtained through study, and nature. Their greatest focus though is on magical studies and how they can use magic in all other diciplines. The Taru have even invented teleportation networks to get around their city. There is research in using magic in all pursuits through the ministries, there is even one taru researching using it in disgestion calling himself a "Brown Mage".
Living Standards and Life Style
Living with nature and converting it to their use comes much from the mithra influence but the Taru have embraced this to the full. Their sprawling city seeks to incorporate the natural features of the land into the layout and not dominate.
Houses have an open floor plan, generally with two level, using screens for privacy rather than a heavy use of walls. This reflects their laid-back openess with-in the community and with outsiders.
RP Tips
Most Mage jobs began with the Tarutaru since they discovered magic. They are generally the most skilled as mages and with purely intellectual pursuits than the other races. Now their mission is to seek peace with all, including Beastmen, so they are often viewed as weak by others though they themselves see this as wise.
Also they are associated with Beast Masters and Scholars to a degree.
