Sfant Umbra began as a secret mercenary business within the depths of the Aht Urhgan Empire. With the rise and fall of business it slowly faded from memory. That is, until a descendant of the creator happened across some old parchments one day...

Gran Torino

Clint Eastwood. Love him or hate him, you can not help but admit that no matter the role he was given, he always managed to be as bad ass as his "man with no name" or Dirty Harry character. The same can be said with his character in Gran Torino.

Clint Eastwood plays as Walt Kowalski, a retired Ford factory worker and Korean war vet, who is bitter and not well liked by any one in his family; at the same time he does not like them for being so materialistic. His neighborhood is slowly being over run by Asian immigrants, bringing with them gang violence. Walt, being the subtle racist he is, does not like this situation one bit, but after running off a small gang, he unwillingly becomes the neighborhood's savior.

One would think that the major plot of the movie dealt with gang violence, but in fact, this is a pure character change movie, almost in the way that Christmas Carol is. Walt starts out hating his new neighbors and just wanting to be left alone, but before he knows it, he's not only taking part in their family bar-b-ques, but he is also helping their son Thao Vang become more open and "like a man". The whole deal with gang violence only pops in every now and then to push the characters more, but it does not make it the whole point of the movie.

As was said before, Eastwood has a way of making himself appear like Dirty Harry all over again. He's a 70+ year old man, staring down four gang members that are more than likely packing illegal style guns, with only a M1 Garand, and still manages to come off as someone you don't f*@& with. The way he says "I'll blow a hole in your head and sleep like a baby..." sends chills down your spine.

I won't spoil it, but the ending of the film is by far the best point of the whole movie. If you have yet to see this movie, I highly suggest giving it a chance. The story and characters are very strong and well delivered.

Some one please pass on to DS that I finally have his request up.
