Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa
Fullmetal Alchemist another one of the best anime to have recently find its way to America's shores. Who wouldn't want to live in a world where Alchemy was made possible over physics? Of course this alchemy is more like a scientific magic than the kind of alchemy those like Sir Isaac Newton were practicing (as it was more of a potion creating kind of science), but still, who wouldn't?
Once the show ended, the creators decided that a movie should be made on the series; instead of doing a unique story line that seemed to take place outside of the series' episodes, they went the route of doing a sequel to the series. So you have Al Elric, with no memories of his time being suit of armor, looking for Ed, while Ed has found himself living in our Earth (Germany for that fact, 1923), where Alchemy is nothing and physics rule. So how does the movie add up?
Its very simple really, if you liked the show, you will definitely enjoy this movie. All the (english) voice actors from the t.v. show make a come back and it's as strong as ever. The animation/color (unlike most anime movies) is actually sharper than the show itself as well.
During scenes with Edward in Germany, it's Nazism galore, as a lot of random people keep shouting bad things about Jews, Gypsies, etc. and there is references to the up coming day that Hitler over throws the current government. With Al's scenes, you get to see all your favorite FMA characters behaving as usual. Armstrong just can't seem to keep his shirt on.
So as was stated before, if you enjoyed the series, there's no reason not to see this movie.
