Sfant Umbra began as a secret mercenary business within the depths of the Aht Urhgan Empire. With the rise and fall of business it slowly faded from memory. That is, until a descendant of the creator happened across some old parchments one day...

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Cowboy Bebop, possible one of the best Anime series to find its way in America since the Gundam and Dragonball series. A story set in the far future, it follows a team of licensed bounty hunters as they try their best to keep their funds up, as well as dealing with their own personal demons. The earth was destroyed by asteroid bombardment, and civilization now lives on every other planet in the solar system. With such a rich and mature plot line, (and the fact almost every other Anime does this) of course they would make a feature length movie. Does it stack up?

Well for starters (and as with most Anime movies) the art work appears to be lighter. In the show Fae's hair was such a deep purple, it even had a shine whenever she stood under a light; but in the movie, every color is dulled down and the lines seen more sketched like. But everyone still appears the same, so color quality should not really matter, unless that's a big beef to you.

The story itself is nothing major. Most other anime movies always seem to take place completely outside of the mythos of the show (like DBZ movies, where Goku would have abilities he hasn't yet learned in the show, or was turning SS3 early) or would seem like its a whole season condensed into an hour and a half (like the Full Metal Alchemist movie), but Cowboy Bebop on the other hand, truly feels like it could have been a 3-4 parter episode in the show, which I consider a plus. Not to say the plot was bad. You have an ex-soldier named Vincent who went crazy because he was used as a lab rat one too many times, and decides that humanity needs a cataclysmic event to set them right. So he attempts to use bone marrow attacking nanites to kill a large population, while the team goes after the 300 million "wulong" (is that correct?) bounty that is on his head.

Spike is still a lovable, lazy, bad ass; Ject is...well Ject; Fae is bad ass, eye candy as always, and there is even time with Edward as you watch her walk through a city in her craziness. However, the two other main characters created are a little rushed. Vincent is your run-of-the-mill bad guy who's back story is told in a blink of an eye, and Electra is really just there to provide Vincent's back story.

As stated before, the movie does not veer away from the series in any way, so if you were a big fan of the movie, you will love this movie. See it if you haven't.
